Seabrook Island
Sealbrook Island is a small town and barrier island in Charleston County, South Carolina, the community and island are part of the Charleston-North Charleston-Summerville metropolitan area. It is a coastal community situated on a cozy barrier island. The town has a single neighborhood and is the 158th largest community in the state. It is obviously a nautical community with strong ties to the ocean around it and a rich maritime history. The community is blessed with breathtaking views of the ocean and a plethora of beach/waterfront opportunities and amenities. It is a popular vacation destination, which in turns means that in the off-season the population decreases. Life becomes much more quiet and serene when your have more trees for neighbors than people. The island is heavily forested and has many mature trees that provide wonderful shady stretches. Among the common trees there are pine, sweet gum, magnolia, oak and hickory. The community is a private gated community with a warm and welcoming atmosphere and loads of southern charm and hospitality.

English is the primary language of the community, followed by Spanish and French. The community spans seven square miles, six square miles of land area and one square mile of water. It is a wealthy community in comparison to both state and federal economic standards. Over 70% of all adults in the community have four-year degrees or more. This is more than three times the national education average for U.S. communities. It is a predominantly white-collar community, where over 86% of the local workforce is white-collar workers. Over 22.5% of the workforce works from home via telecommuting and other options. In 2016, the estimated household income was $98,397 and the estimated per capita income was $73,016. In the same year, the estimated median house or condo value was $692,082, the mean price on all housing units was $384,845 and the median gross rent was $1,193. The island has an active Turtle Patrol, a trained group of volunteers that records and monitors loggerhead turtle nests, guards against predators, moves endangered nets and records hatchings. The community has two golf courses, a racquet ball club, Han Tru tennis courts, pickle ball courts, swimming pools, an equine center and more.
