David Kent was Installed as 47th President of the Mt. Pleasant Rotary Club.
The Mt. Pleasant Rotary Club is proud to announce the installation of David Kent as its 47th President. The installation ceremony occurred on June 20, 2024, at the installation banquet, attended by members and distinguished guests.
Mount Pleasant, SC – August 5, 2024 – The Mt. Pleasant Rotary Club is proud to announce the installation of David Kent as its 47th President. The installation ceremony occurred on June 20, 2024, at the installation banquet, attended by members and distinguished guests.
David Kent, a long-time resident of Mount Pleasant, brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to community service. As a dedicated Rotarian for over a decade, David has held various leadership roles within the club, demonstrating exceptional dedication and a passion for making a positive impact. David believes in the motto “Service above Self” and is a Paul Harris Fellow.
In his inaugural address, David outlined his vision for the upcoming year, emphasizing the importance of community engagement, service projects, and fostering strong relationships within the club and the broader community. “I am honored to serve as the President of the Mt. Pleasant Rotary Club,” said David. Together, we will continue to uphold Rotary's values and work towards creating lasting change in our community.”
Under David’s leadership, the Mt. Pleasant Rotary Club will continue to support the following charities:
- Backpack buddies - Food for deserving grade school students in the East Cooper area for the weekend. We partnered with Lowcountry Food Bank in 2008 and currently provide weekend food to students in three East Cooper.
- Happy Feet - Free shoes to deserving grade school students in the East Cooper area. We have given over 5,100 pairs of shoes since we started this program in 2007.
- Dictionaries - Provides a dictionary for every 3rd grader in the East Cooper area. We have given out over 26,000 dictionaries since we started this program in 1999
- Charities—Grants vary for local charities, including ECCO, East Cooper Meals on Wheels, Water Mission International, East Cooper Faith Network, etc.
- Scholarships - 4-year scholarships to local High School Students.
The Mt.Pleasant Rotary Club, established in 1977, is part of Rotary International, a global network of 1.4 million members dedicated to service above self. The club meets weekly at 302 Hibben Street, Mt Pleasant and is committed to making a difference through various service projects and community initiatives.
