While many of the single family homes on Daniel Island offer two- or even three-story porches, locally known as a piazza, once you call Daniel Island home you’ll have easy access to a variety of ways to enjoy nature all around you.

Easily one of the best features of living on Daniel Island is access to the 26+ miles of manicured trails the loop around the island. Whether you want to walk, run or cycle you’re in for a beautiful view complete with Spanish moss laden trees and Lowcountry living at its best. The extensive trail system takes you through neighborhoods, along the marsh, the maritime forest and the water’s edge all while being safe and convenient for the residents of Daniel Island. One of the trails winds through Fallen Oak Park which includes its own exercise stations if fitness is your goal. Another of these trails will take you to Waterfront park which features views of the Wando river and Charleston docks. The children’s park located here features a boat and walking easy pace and beauty of the Lowounty.

If you want to hit the water, in addition to 3 community pools just for the Daniel Island Community Association residents, you also have access to two community boat landings The Beresford Creek Boat Landing (212 Beresford Creek Street) is available to residents of the Daniel Island Community Association (DICA). The Ralston Creek boat landing is located in Great Oak Park (408 Creek Landing Street) and available to residents of the Daniel Island Park Association (DIPA). For your convenience you can also swing by the Daniel Island Community Office to rent your own paddleboards or kayaks for the day. And not to be  forgotten, the 11 acre lake at Smythe Park with its own kayak dock as an option to take in some fun in the sun.

There are no shortages of parks to relax with a book, have a picnic or play some ball whether it be volleyball, basketball or soccer. In total, Daniel Island is home to 9 parks with numerous sport field and playground options for those Daniel Island residents who love to be outside. In the spring and summer months there are often live music events to take in hosted by the community association.

If tennis is your game, located in downtown Daniel Island is the 20  championship level court tennis complex, the Family Circle Tennis Center. Members of the center can enjoy lessons and training for people of all ages as well as recreational fun.
