Old Village

Nestled against the Charleston Harbor just over the Cooper RiverBridge, and along the banks of Shem Creek, the Old Village of Mount Pleasant is the oldest neighborhood in Mount Pleasant. The Old Village is the perfect mix of meticulously restored historic homes ranging from the 1800s to charming 1940’s cottages, to the brick ranch style homes of the 50s and 60s with classic Southern designed custom new construction mixed in. All the homes complement and blend harmoniously together, with even the new construction homes pay homage to the historic design eustatic of the past offering wide porches and metal roofs. All the homes in this historic section of Mount Pleasant are incredibly sought after. The feel of the old village relaxed with plentiful mature live oaks and meandering streets. Many of the homes sit on large lots with some offering hidden gardens.  The more expensive properties may offer Harbor or waterfront views and may have private deep water access.

Additionally, the Old Village boasts several public park sand green spaces for all to enjoy. Pitt Street Park is particularly nice, as you can enjoy some fishing or a nice walk along the old trolley bridge.  There is one main quant commercial street in the Old Village that is home to the Pitt Street Pharmacy that has been serving up coke floats for over 60 years along with some other shops, restaurants and a bakery. In some ways, wandering through the old village gives a glimpse into the past with the well preserved charm and beauty of the historic homes and peaceful dog friendly vibes of the neighborhood. It’s no wonder the oldest neighborhood inMount Pleasant is still one of its most sought after today.
